Alex and the ‘Scary Black Man’ Syndrome…

Today is yet another day I thank God I’m 5′10″ and about 130 pounds.

At the same time, it’s nice to know that even decades later, people like me still can’t avoid the ghost of Susan Smith.

Yesterday, the Right was practically frothing at the mouth (with people practically calling for mobs) because Ms. Ashley Todd from Texas claimed the ’scary black man’ attacked her at an ATM and carved a backwards ‘B’ into her face.

I, for one, knew she was full of shit the moment I heard the story. I have it on good authority that all brown people have decided to lay low on any sort of criminal activities until November 4th as we know anything that remotely involves the words ‘black’ ‘white’ and ‘crime’ will somehow be an indictment on Barack Obama; cause you know… all black people behave the same exact way… that’s what the people on the television tell me anyway.

There’s a part of me that really wants to sympathize with this woman… but I won’t. I could get on my high horse about this race baiting woman but I won’t do that either. It’s too easy. Moreover, it doesn’t surprise me even remotely.

This is where a lot of black people are with this kind of shit nowdays… doesn’t even phase us. I’ve seen this tape far too many times to even be moved by it anymore. The food stamp thing in California, the nooses, the “he doesn’t see America like you or I see America,” the monkey with the Obama sticker on it, his supposed ‘anti-American’ views… I could go on. To my Caucasian friends, shit like that is met with righteous indignation and I sit there completely unmoved. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

“This incident could become a watershed event in the 11 days before the election. If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee.”

John Moody, executive Vice President of Fox (News)

See… told you they think we all behave alike.

Oh… one more thing. Now that this has proven to be categorically untrue, some of the comments I’ve read on right wing sites are saying Ms. Todd is actually a plant for Democrats.

Seriously guys, whatever you’re on, please inform me as to where I can purchase it.
