The “Real” American (Part Two)

“We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans. Those who are running our factories and teaching our kids and growing our food and are fighting our wars for us. Those who are protecting us in uniform. Those who are protecting the virtues of freedom.”

Sarah Palin

“What I would say is that the news media should do a penetrating expose and take a look. I wish they would. I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out if they are pro-America or anti-America,”

Michelle Bachmann

Something big happened in this country seven years ago and you didn’t have to be from New York City (as I am) or Washington D.C. to be in on it. In fact, my cynical mind marveled at the collective spirit that swept the country… different values, different ages, different occupations, skin color, religions, sexual orientations, tax brackets, living conditions…

One America.

Millions of people who don’t pray the same, fuck the same, travel the same, all understanding the importance of being apart of something bigger than themselves.

What you see in these quotes and what the following video expresses in a manner far better than I could is the direct opposite of the America I presented to you. I won’t dare go as far as these women and say it’s ‘anti’ American because free speech is as American as you can get. The language is very troublesome however and reeks of an inclusion our forefathers hated and many of us died to prevent.

I want you to read those quotes and others that have come about during this campaign season… let them really swirl in your head for a minute. Then crack open a history book. In making this point, sweeping associations aren’t necessary; just seeing the sort of people who’ve used this brand of divisive politics over the history of civilization will say more than I ever could.

I don’t care what you believe in… I don’t care who you’re voting for. This brand of governance has no place in a society even remotely democratic.

Period…

I’ll let Keith say the rest.
